Online marketing
Measuring is knowing! And that is why we carry out a baseline measurement at the start of every project. After all, you want to know how you perform online, what is going well and gain insight into opportunities for improvement. By knowing how the website is doing, you can set targeted online goals. A baseline measurement forms the basis for all your online projects, such as a new website. But what exactly does a baseline measurement entail? In this article we will go into this in more detail.
A baseline measurement is an investigation into the current situation of a website. It maps out how the website is doing in terms of findability. Before we start developing a new website, we carry out a baseline measurement as standard.
We map the findability of the website and see which pages are most visited and which pages receive less attention. How does the website score in search engines such as Google? The baseline measurement provides insight into: keywords, website traffic, traffic per page, the best performing pages, searches, conversions, referring domains, devices, regions and socials. All these components together determine the findability of your website.
The baseline measurement provides a good foundation for the further development of the website. By knowing how the website is doing, we can work on improvements in a targeted manner. You will also gain insight into the strengths and weaknesses of the website. The website can be optimized based on this information.
We attach great importance to developing wireframes. Wireframes are the blueprint of the website. It is a schematic representation of the structure and layout of the website. By developing wireframes, you can work specifically on the user experience and conversion of the website. A baseline measurement provides important information for developing the wireframes. Based on the baseline measurement, it is determined which elements should appear on the new website and in what way.
The baseline measurement also forms the basis for the redirect list. A redirect is a redirection from one web page to another. By applying redirects, you tell both search engines and users that the URL they are visiting has been replaced by another URL. By adopting and implementing the correct redirects, we prevent visitors from receiving a 404 error message and then - most likely - leaving the website.
Six months after a new website goes live, we carry out another measurement. Carrying out a measurement after a website goes live is just as important as carrying out a baseline measurement when building a new website. This is because the performance of a website can change as more traffic comes to the website and more content is added.
By identifying changes and trends in website traffic, the website can be optimized. In addition, carrying out regular measurements helps to adjust the online marketing strategy and optimize the content of the website.
Is this your company's first website? We then carry out the baseline measurement as standard six months after go-live, when we have collected sufficient data to carry out the measurements.
